The altar server ministry is very important and a serious commitment. Any boy or girl in fourth grade through high school is invited to become an altar server. Like all calls to ministry, it is God who makes the invitation.

Why become an altar server?

• Altar serving is a way of actively participating in the Mass.
• Altar servers have a privileged place in the Mass, for it is not only a duty but a great honor. They experience very personally that Jesus Christ is present during Mass. No other lay person gets to be that close to Jesus!

What is required?

• You must have received your First Holy Communion.
• Servers help during one of the weekend Masses, generally twice a month.
• You must arrive early for the scheduled Mass while wearing the proper attire.
• Above all, the server should reflect the same attitude as the priest in celebrating Mass. That means he / she should perform their duties worthily, attentively, and devoutly in body, mind and spirit.

New servers must attend 3 one-hour training sessions in November.
There will be two sets of training:

November 7, 9 and 14 (Tuesday-Thursday-Tuesday) all from 3:15 until 4:15 pm in the Chapel.

November 4, 11, 18 (Saturdays) all from 10 to 11 am in the Chapel.
